In the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, it was decided that 2021 would be the "Year of the National Anthem", with the joint proposal submitted with the signature of the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Şentop and 5 political parties. During 2021, all public institutions and organizations planned to hold the National Anthem and commemorate Mehmet Akif Ersoy with the participation of the public and non-governmental organizations in order to explain the meaning of the National Anthem and the importance of the War of Independence.
